“The user experience is all about convenience”, this statement is no news to anyone working in the ecommerce industry. From seamless payments to easy returns, when a couple of clicks can make the difference between an order and an abandoned cart, it is fundamental to implement the most convenient option. Apple Pay with its built-in encryption feature ensures convenience and security for Apple users.
What is Apple Pay?
Apple Pay is a digital wallet built on Apple’s infrastructure for iPhones, Macbooks and iPads. It allows consumers to add their cards, both debit and credit, to Apple Wallet and, with that, effortlessly use their device to make in-app, in-store, and online payments.
This payment method is also PSD2 and SCA compliant as consumers authenticate the payment with both their devices and their biometric features (Touch ID or Face ID). Although it has only been briefly on the market it already enjoys great adoption thanks to the -truly- frictionless payment experience.
Moreover, thanks to our dynamic technology, MultiSafepay made sure this payment method will only be shown to Apple users as to prevent unsuccessful transactions.
Tokenization in brief
Apple Pay uses tokenization to store card details. It means that the sensitive data of a card like the account number is replaced by a randomly generated token that can not be used to retrieve the customer’s card details. MultiSafepay can forward the relevant and correct information to the card scheme to process the payment.
A stronger recurring model with tokenization
Tokenization is indeed a great feature to improve the payment experience in your website checkout. Once implemented directly in your webshop, it helps boost your recurring model, enabling one-click payments, subscriptions and repeat purchases. In order to unlock this feature for all your needs, across all your target audience and all devices, MultiSafepay also developed a tokenization feature for recurring models to collect frictionless payments for more than just cards, by adding iDEAL, Sofort, and even Direct Debit!
